Softball Swept by Ramapo in NJAC Action

Mahwah, NJ (4/6/05) - The Montclair State softball team dropped a pair of decisions today at Ramapo College in a New Jersey Athletic Conference doubleheader.

The host Roadrunners defeated the Red Hawks by 2-0 and 5-2 scores to improve to 9-7 overall and 2-2 in NJAC play, while MSU fell to 10-4 on the year and 0-3 in the conference.

MSU freshman pitcher DANA WARNOCK started both games and took the loss in both contests to fall to 4-2 this year. She surrendered two runs and five hits with one strikeout in 2.1 innings in the opener, while lasting 3.1 innings in the nightcap with eight hits and three runs against plus three strikeouts.

Junior designated player ATHANASIA TOTARO went 2-for-3 in the first game and finished 3-for-6 at the plate with an RBI. Sophomore shortstop Crystal Dahlhaus had Montclair's only other hit in the opening game, while senior outfielder MEGAN SWEENEY batted in MSU's only other run in the closing contest.

Junior centerfielder Erica Moore hit 3-for-4 in both games for Ramapo, scoring three runs and batting in two more. Junior left fielder Andrea Pastiglione homered in the opener for the Roadrunners, while Marissa Marino and Heather Camb picked up the pitching victories.

Montclair State will seek to put an end to its three-game winless streak tomorrow night against John Jay College at the MSU Softball Stadium. The Red Hawks, who are 3-0 at home so far this spring, swept the visiting Bloodhounds by 10-0 and 4-1 counts exactly a year ago.
