RUBY RUSSELL each registered a goal and an assist as the Montclair State women's soccer team picked up its first win of the season with a 3-0 victory over Bay Path College (MA) in the Consolation Game of the Wellesley Invitational on Sunday afternoon.

JESS AMENDOLA added a goal as the Red Hawks defeated Bay Path in the rematch of their 2004 NCAA Division III Tournament game, a 4-0 Red Hawks victory at MSU Soccer Park. Montclair State improved to 1-3 overall this season and finished third in the tournament.
The Red Hawks struck just over 10 minutes in to the game as Amendola connected on her second goal of the season off an assist from Nalven as Montclair State took a 1-0 lead at halftime. Nalven would extend the lead to two goals with 15:49 to play as she scored her first of the season and second career marker. Russell capped off the MSU scoring with her first tally of the season. MEGAN BROWN picked up the assist for her first collegiate point.
Kristen Kuhmann stopped the only shot that Bay Path was able to get on goal. MSU outshot Bay Path, 31-1.
The Red Hawks are now off until Saturday, September 17 when they open New Jersey Athletic Conference play. MSU, the defending NJAC champions, will host The College of New Jersey at 4:00 pm at MSU Soccer Park. The game is a rematch of last season's NJAC Championship Game. MSU claimed its first title, winning in penalty kicks following a scoreless tie.
