Box Score Union, NJ (9/24/05) – Junior midfielder Lisa Battaglia scored the game-winner midway through the second half, as Kean University rallied from a 1-0 halftime deficit to defeat Montclair State University in New Jersey Athletic Conference women's soccer action on Saturday evening.
With their first victory over Montclair State since a 6-0 win in 1997, the Cougars improved to 6-2 overall, 3-0 in the NJAC, while the Red Hawks dropped to 3-5 overall, 1-2 in the conference.

JESS AMENDOLA, who fired a shot past Cougar senior keeper Jessica Kogel for the early 1-0 advantage.
In the second half, the Cougars took advantage of an 11-5 edge in shots and tied the game, when junior forward Heather Anzivino delivered a pass up field to freshman forward Amanda Pitts for the breakaway goal with 32:00 remaining.
Minutes later, Pitts delivered a pass directly in front of the goal that Anzivino deflected over to Battaglia for the game-winner with 26:46 left in the contest.
For the game, the Cougars held an 18-14 advantage in shots, while Montclair State had a 2-1 edge in corner kicks, including the only corner kick of the second half.
Kogel finished the contest with eight saves, while Red Hawk junior goalkeeper
KRISTIN KUHMANN stopped seven Cougar shots.
The Cougars return to action on Wednesday, September 28, when they travel to Mahwah, N.J., for a NJAC match-up against Ramapo College at 4:30 p.m.
