HEATHER ACIZ (Secaucus, NJ/Secaucus) and freshman
ANNA CHESNAKOVA (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) each recorded 14 kills, however, the Montclair State volleyball season came to an end with a 3-1 loss to top-seeded Richard Stockton in the New Jersey Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals on Thursday evening.
Montclair State won the first game 30-26 before the Ospreys came back to take the final three games, 30-18, 30-24 and 30-15. MSU ended the season at 14-20 and the match was also the final one for head coach Karin Harvey, who was named the new head women's basketball coach at Drew University last month. Harvey finished her two-year stint as Montclair coach with a record of 24-35.
Aciz, playing in her final match for the Red Hawks also recorded 18 assists, two services aces and 11 digs as she finishes the season with a record 440 kills. Aciz also leaves MSU as the all-time leader in kills with 1,143 and attack attempts (3,002) and second in service aces (191), digs (1,092) and points (1,370.5).
Chesnakova had 1.5 blocks in the match while
RAISA SILVA (Newark, NJ/East Side) had 28 assists and 12 digs. Libero
MEGHAN STEVENS (Woodcliffe Lake, NJ/Pascack Hills) had a team-high 13 digs. Karin Martin (Sicklerville, NJ/Washington Township) had seven kills and 11 digs and Sam Karpinski (Hackensack, NJ/Hackensack) recorded eight kills.
KARA BURNHAM (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) had six kills.
Amanda Burkart (Cresskill/Cresskill) led Stockton with a match-high 24 kills plus 18 digs. Colleen Bachmann (Closter/Northern Valley) scooped a match-high 22 digs and setter Christine Aletras (Ridgewood/Ridgewood) finished with 40 assists and 15 digs. Audrey O'Donnell (Bogota/Immaculate Heart) also contributed seven kills, nine digs and five blocks for the Ospreys.
