STEPHANIE MACHIN scored 13 points and
MICHELLE MADEJ (right) added 10, however, Richard Stockton stengthened its hold on first place in the NJAC with a 68-52 win over Montclair State on Saturday afternoon. The loss dropped MSU to 15-8 overall, 12-4 in the conference.
Jessica Rainey led Stockton with a game-high 18 points and Lisa Neira added 15 points. Alicia Morris finished with seven points and a game-high eight rebounds.
STEPHANIE MACHIN paced Montclair State with 13 points and
MICHELLE MADEJ tossed in 10 points for the Red Hawks. Machin moved into 11th place on the all-time MSU scoring list with 1,101 career points.
Montclair shot just 2-11 (18.2%) from three-point range and 8-18 (44.4%) at the free throw line while Stockton was 18-22 (81.8%) at the stripe.
In the first half, Rainey and Krystle Umscheid scored six points during a 16-4 run that resulted in a 34-20 Stockton lead. Montclair closed the period with a 7-2 spurt to pull within 36-27 at the break. Rainey and Neira netted 11 first-half points apiece for the Ospreys. In the second half, Morris scored six points during a 9-0 run that gave Stockton a 55-40 lead with 8:52 to play. The Ospreys led by double figures the rest of the way to post their third consecutive win, 68-52.
Montclair State returns to action on Wednesday, February 15 as they play their final home game of the regular season. MSU will host The College of New Jersey at 6:00 pm.
