Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Sisti Scores Twice as Women's Soccer Downs William Paterson

Montclair, NJ (9/20/06) – Freshman forward NATALIA SISTI (Lincoln Park, NJ/DePaul Catholic) scored both goals as Montclair State captured its fifth straight victory with a 2-0 triumph over backyard rival William Paterson in New Jersey Athletic Conference Women's Soccer action at MSU Soccer Park on Wednesday afternoon.

ANGELA MARTONE (Toms River, NJ/Toms River South) and MEGAN LANCELOT (Old Bridge, NJ/Old Bridge) each had assists for the Red Hawks (5-1-0, 2-0-0 NJAC). MSU also captured win No. 99 for head coach Eileen Blair, who is now 99-54-19 in her eight-plus seasons with Montclair. The Red Hawks also won their third straight against their local rival and trimmed the WPU lead in the series to 10-6-1.

Caitlin Kiernan (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills) had five saves for the Lady Pioneers (4-3-0, 1-1-0 NJAC).

William Paterson got the first scoring chance of the game as Amanda Kurdyla ( Denville, NJ/Morris Knolls) got off a shot 55 seconds in that Montclair State goalkeeper KRISTIN KUHMANN (Beachwood, NJ/Toms River South) stopped.

Sisti then gave the Red Hawks a 1-0 lead just over 10 minutes into the game as she notched her sixth goal of the season. Martone intercepted a clearing pass and booted a pass back the way onto the foot of Sisti, who slid the shot past Kiernan for the goal.

The Red Hawks took the 1-0 lead into halftime.

WPU would get two more chances to tie the game in the second half, but Kuhmann, the NJAC Defensive Player of the Week, came up with two more saves as she finished with three in the game, posting her fifth consecutive shutout.

Sisti would cap the scoring at the final horn. Lancelot delivered a pass to Sisti just outside the 35 yard line as the final seconds ticked off. Sisti then drove toward the goal, beating Kiernan just ahead of the gun for her second tally of the game.

The Red Hawks outshot William Paterson, 14-5 and held a 10-1 advantage in corner kicks.

MSU returns to action on Saturday, September 23 when they take on No. 2 ranked The College of New Jersey in Ewing, NJ at 1:00 pm. William Paterson is home on the same date as the Lady Pioneers host Richard Stockton at the same time.
