NATALIA SISTI (Lincoln Park, NJ / DePaul Catholic) and
CHRISTINA DELLA FAVE (Bordentown, NJ / Bordentown) each notched their first collegiate goals as Montclair State topped Arcadia, 2-0, in the Consolation Game of the Haverford Kickoff Classic on Sunday afternoon.
Senior goalkeeper
KRISTIN KUHMANN (Beachwood, NJ/Toms River South) stopped six shots as the Red Hawks (1-1-0) finished in third place in the tournament.
MSU dominated most of the play in the first half as they outshot Arcadia, 14-2, however goalkeeper Auralia Kubat kept the Knights in the game with six first-half saves before Lancelot broke the deadlock with her first career goal.
LARA KAMINSKI (Rahway, NJ / Union Catholic) threaded a pass onto the foot of Sisti whose shot rolled past Kubat at the 31:06 mark giving the Red Hawks the only goal they would need.
MSU would add to the lead midway through the final 45 minutes as
KELLY DUTKO (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) lofted a pass to the top of box where Della Fave headed in a roller to the bottom left portion of the game for a 2-0 Montclair State advantage.
Kubat finished with nine saves for Arcadia while Kuhmann posted her first shutout this season and 18th of her career in addition to her 19th career victory in goal. Both are second all-time on the MSU list.
Montclair State returns to action on Saturday, September 9 when it takes part in the Wellesley Invitational at Wellesley College in Massachusetts. The Red Hawks will face the host school at Noon with Eastern Connecticut taking on Simmons in the other semifinal.
The tournament concludes on Sunday with the consolation game set for Noon followed by the championship game at 3:30 pm.
