New York, NY (9/2/06) – Freshmen ANNA CHESNAKOVA (East Brunswick, NJ / East Brunswick) collected 12 kills and seven block solos as Montclair State picked up its first victory of the 2006 season with a three-set win over John Jay College on Wednesday evening.

HEATHER ACIZ (Secaucus, NJ/Secaucus) had seven kills and a team-leading 24 digs for the Red Hawks (1-4), who posted the sweep by game scores of 30-12, 30-13, 30-22.

Sophomore SAMANTHA KARPINSKI ( Hackensack, NJ/ Hackensack) added five kills with freshmen setter RAISA SILVA (Newark, NJ/Newark East Side) registering 30 assists and eight digs.

CHRISTINE TOSKOVICH (Garfield, NJ/Garfield) had five service aces and six digs along a pair of kills.

The Red Hawks return to action on Tuesday, September 12 as they take on Kean University in their first New Jersey Athletic Conference contest of the season. First serve will be in Union, NJ at 7:00 pm.
