Montclair , NJ (1/31/07) – The Montclair State Men's swimming and diving team closed out its dual meet season with a 134-94 victory over Vassar College at the Panzer Pool on Wednesday evening.
The Red Hawks finished the year at 8-6 while Vassar falls to 3-6.
For Montclair State, sophomore
JOHN ADAMS (Wharton, NJ/Pope John XXIII) and junior
RICKY MILLER (Seaside Park, NJ/Monsignor Donovan) helped MSU capture first in the 200 yard medley relay along with Mohammad Abdelaal (Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne) and
TIM CHAMBROVICH (Allenhurst, NJ/Red Bank Regional). The quartet posted a time of 1:44.19. Both Adams and Miller went on to win a pair of individual events. Adams took first in the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke with times of 2:10.68 and 59.30, respectively. Miller captured first in the 50 free as he clocked in at 23.29 before coming back and winning the 500 free with a time 5:01.07.
For Vassar, Roo Wood (Poughkeepsie, NY/Poughkeepsie County Day) captured both diving rounds with scores of 82.95 and 123.80, respectively. First-place winners also included sophomores John Alaimo (Blauvelt, NY/Tappan Zee) winning the 200 yard free with a time of 1:52.03 and Tim Liu (Staten Island, NY/Curtis) taking first in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:03.16.
MSU men's and women's swimming and diving teams will return to action in February as they compete in theMetropolitan Championships at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ. This all day event will take place February 16-18.
