Men's Lacrosse Topped by FDU-Florham in Florida

 Lithia, FL (3/12/07) – Sophomore attack TYLER MEIXNER (Hamburg, NJ/Vernon) scored three times and senior midfielder EVAN WEHMEYER (Succasunna, NJ/Pope John XXIII) added two goals and two assists, however, FDU-Florham used a six-goal run spanning the second throught fourth quarters to down Montclair State, 11-9 on Monday evening.

Spencer Driggs and Scott Shadiack each scored twice for the Devils, who picked of their first win of the season (1-2) while winning their third straight against Montclair State and improved to 16-9 overall in the series n the first meeting between the teams since 2001. JOHN DELLA PESCA ( Fair Lawn, NJ/ Fair Lawn) had two goals for the Red Hawks (1-2), who were playing their first game in nine days.

Meixner's third goal of the game, off an assist from BRYAN KLIMCHAK (Clark, NJ/AL Johnson) with 1:52 left in the second quarter gave Montclair a 6-5 lead. But Driggs tied the game 44 seconds later as the teams went into halftime deadlocked at 6-6. Shadiack scored twice in the third period to give the Devils the lead and Peter Fleming's man-up goal with 11:38 left in the fourth gave FDU an 8-6 advantage.

Diggs scored with 8:58 left in the game and Peter Schaaf made it 10-6 in favor of the Devils with 5:40 to go.

MSU did not go away quietly as Wehemeyer scored 32 second after Schaaf and hit unassisted tally on the power-play with 2:55 left made the score, 10-8. Freshman TAYLOR BONNER (Old Bridge, NJ/Old Bridge) scored off an assist from A.J. Bachman (Montville, NJ/Mountain Lakes) with 1:07 to play bringing the Red Hawks within a goal, however Wayne Sartorio ended any further Montclair comeback as he scored with 18 second to play.
THOMAS BOWERS ( Hamburg, NJ/Pope John XXIII) made 14 saves for the Red Hawks while Ryan McAllister had 16 for FDU-Florham.

Montclair State returns to action on Saturday, March 17 as the Red Hawks open up Skyline Conference play at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at 2:00 pm.
