BETHANY BLAINE (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) added four goals as Montclair State remained unbeaten in Skyline Conference play with a 21-2 victory over Farmingdale State in women's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon.
Senior
ANN DAILY (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) and sophomore Markykate DiBenedetto (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) each added three goals as the Red Hawks scored the first four goals of the game and never looked back in upping their record to 7-2 overall, 3-0 in the Skyline Conference.
Jennifer Jung had a goal and an assist for the Rams, who fell to 4-2 overall, 1-2 in the Skyline.
Blaine put the Red Hawks on the board 20 seconds into the game as she scored off a feed from Gillin. DiBenedetto would score 17 seconds later and collected an unassisted marker with 27:48 left as MSU led 3-0. Blaine added her second goal just under a half-minute later to give MSU a four-goal cushion before Jung put the Rams on the board with 26:40 to play.
Montclair State then embarked on a 12-goal run to end the half. Daily began the explosion with 26:24 left and Blaine and Gillin scored 70 seconds apart as the MSU lead grew to 7-1.
JENNIFER TANIS (Oak Ridge, NJ/Jefferson) would score once as would
NICOLE LAROCCA (Shamong, NJ/Shawnee) and
NICOLE ROSELLE (Pine Brook, NJ/Montville) before Dailly notched consecutive goals with 17:08 left as the advantage was extended to 12-1. Blaine collected her fourth goal with 14:50 to play and
KATY MAYER (Toms River, NJ/Toms River South) tallied with 13:01 for a 13-goal lead with Gillin punctuating the half with two goals as Montclair led 16-1 at halftime.
Kristin Kuhmann (Beachwood, NJ/Toms River South) made six saves for Montclair State, which outshot the Rams, 41-14 in the game.
SHAUNA BROCKLEBANK (Long Branch, NJ/Long Branch) had two goals while Blaine also had six ground balls and four caused turnovers.
Janine Forman had 11 saves for Farmingdale.
Montclair State returns to action on Wednesday, April 11 as the Red Hawks host Manhattanville in a rematch of last year's Skyline Conference Championship at 7:00 pm.
