Sisti Lifts Women's Soccer Past William Paterson

Wayne, NJ (9/19/07) – Sophomore NATALIA SISTI (Lincoln Park, NJ / DePaul) scored 1:17 into overtime as the Montclair State women rebounded from an overtime loss on Saturday with a 2-1 OT victory against rival William Paterson on Wednesday evening.

Freshman KATIE MINERVINI (Oceanport, NJ / Shore Regional) scored her first career goal for the Red Hawks, who improved to 2-4-1 on the season while squaring their conference mark at 1-1.

The Pioneers tied the game with less than four minutes remaining in regulation when senior forward Amanda Kurdyla (Denville, N.J./Morris Knolls) knocked in a deflected header from sophomore forward Jessica Reibis (Jackson, N.J./Jackson), giving Kurdyla her ninth goal of the season and forcing the match into overtime.

Sisti capped the scoring in the 92 nd minute when she chipped a ball into the upper-right corner of the net, giving the Red Hawks a 2-1 victory. Freshman picked CHRISTYN SCILLIERI (Wayne, NJ / Wayne Valley) picked up the assist as Montclair knocked off its local rival for the fourth consecutive year.

Sophomore goalkeeper Meaghan Baker (Rockaway, NJ/Morris Knolls) had two saves for the Pioneers. Sophomore goalkeeper LEAH TEPPERMAN (North Andover, N.J./North Andover) made five stops for the Red Hawks, improving her record to 4-2.

The Red Hawks return to action on Saturday, September 22 when they host No. 2 ranked and defending conference champion The College of New Jersey under the lights at Sprague Field beginning at 6:00 pm.
