KARA BURNHAM collected 13 kills while her teammates served up 20 aces as the Red Hawks snapped a three-match losing streak with a 3-0 sweep of Rutgers-Camden in New Jersey Athletic Conference women's volleyball action at Panzer Gymnasium on Thursday evening.
The Red Hawks won the match by the scores of 30-16, 30-19, and 30-7.

RAISA SILVA registered 32 assists and six service aces as Montclair State improved to 8-6 overall, 2-1 in the NJAC as MSU defeated the Scarlet Raptors for the sixth time in as many meetings between the teams.
Freshman Krista White had three kills and seven assists for Rutgers-Camden, which fell to 0-12 on the season and 0-3 in the conference.
Burnham collected six kills in the first game as Montclair State jumped out to a 4-0 lead as Johnston served up two aces. The Scarlet Raptors would tie the game at 5-5; however,
CHRISTINE TOSKOVICH would put Montclair ahead for good with an ace. The Scarlet Raptors tied the game up one last time as White collected an ace. Johnston would answer with one of her own for the Red Hawks, and a kill by Toskovich made the score 13-10 as MSU slowly increased its lead. Leading 17-11, Stevens ignited a five-point run with an ace and three kills from Burnham as Montclair built a 22-11 lead. Chesnakova closed out the set with her fourth kill of the game as Montclair took a 1-0 lead with a 30-16 victory.
In game two, MSU scored the first five points as Silva served up two aces, and
DEVON JOHNSTON and Toskovich each collected kills. An ace from Toskovich made the score 9-2, and Montclair took a 13-4 advantage as Burnham put down a set from Silva. Rutgers-Camden would get as close as 25-17, but Johnston responded with a kill, and Chesnakova put together back-to-back kills as Montclair would take the opening game, 30-19.
The final game was knotted a 3-3 before Montclair scored five consecutive points to take the lead.
KAREN MARTIN put the Red Hawks in front with a kill, and Toskovich served an ace before Burnham recorded a kill to make the score, 6-3. Toskovich added another ace, and an attack error by Rutgers-Camden gave Montclair a five-point advantage. Martin would get the serve back for MSU at 8-4 and served the next eight points, including three aces as the Red Hawks built a 17-4 advantage. Silva added the final three aces in the match for MSU as she served the final 10 points and set up Chesnakova for the last point of the match as Montclair took the game three, 30-7.
Burnham made just two attack errors as she hit .625 for the match. Johnston finished with six kills while Toskovich had four, five service aces, and two digs.
MEGHAN STEVENS had a team-high eight digs. Julie Lo and Marci Polite each recorded three kills for Rutgers-Camden.
Montclair State returns to action on Saturday, September 22, as the Red Hawks travel to FDU-Florham for a quad match. The Red Hawks will face Cabrini College at 11:00 am, FDU-Florham at 1:00 pm and Misericordia University at 3:00 pm.
