Gettysburg, PA (1/2/08) – Freshman forward KISANDRA AYANBEKU (Burlington, MA / Randolph) posted a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, however Grove City got 22 points and nine rebounds from Christine Slater as the Wolverines upended the Red Hawks, 61-60 in overtime in the opening game of the Days Inn Tournament at Gettysburg College on Wednesday evening.

Brittany Anderson had 14 points and 11 rebounds as Grove City moved into the championship game of the tournament on Thursday, January 3 where they will meet host Gettysburg, a 67-48 winner over Arcadia in the other semifinal.

Senior JESSICA GARRABRANT ( Denville, NJ / Morris Knolls) had seven points and a team-best 11 rebounds for the MSU, which dropped its third straight and fell to 5-5 this season. Montclair will take on Arcadia at 2:00 pm in the consolation game as the two teams battle for the second time this season. The Red Hawks recorded a 66-44 win over the Knights at William Paterson in the Red Hawk-Pioneer Classic on November 24.

Montclair led by as many as six points in the second half, including a 49-34 advantage with 8:14 left as CATHERINE CRISTINO ( Farmingdale, NJ / Colts Neck) scored on a layup. But the Wolverines were able to keep pace and managed to tie the contest for the 13 th time with 1:32 remaining as Laura Miller sank a jumper with 92 seconds to go, knotting the game at 52-52. Each team would get its share of opportunities to win the game, but neither was able to convert the five attempts in the final 1:32 as the game headed into overtime.

In the extra period, MARIANNE MCGOVERN ( Fair Lawn, NJ / Paramus Catholic) gave Montclair the lead 16 seconds in, but Anderson sparked an 8-0 run by Grove City as the Wolverines went up 60-54 with 2:30 left. Montclair would counter with its own 5-0 spurt, the last two points coming as Ayanbekyu hit a layup with 53 ticks to make the score 60-59. Raeann Szelong converted the first of two free throws to put Grove City back in front 61-59, but the Red Hawks were not done. Down two, the Red Hawks would go to the free throw line with 15 seconds left, but managed just 1-of-2 at the charity stripe. MSU would also get off a final attempt that misfired.

Jamielee Pflug ( Clark, NJ / Arthur L. Johnson) and McGovern each finished with eight points while CYNTHIA WARRINGTON (Villas, NJ / Lower Cape May Regional) had six points. Sophomore guard JACKIE BERRY ( Tuckerton, NJ / Pinelands Regional) added five points, four rebounds, five assists and three steals.
