Montclair, N.J. (January 7, 2001) – The Montclair State women's basketball team saw seven players notch seven or more points in a 60-28 victory over Hunter College.
The Red Hawks improved to 7-5 on the year while Hunter fell to 2-9.
With Hunter trailing 11-6, MSU embarked on a 17-2 spurt to break the game open midway through the opening stanza. Montclair's defense was particularly tough, holding Hunter to just two made field goals and six points over the final 8:52 of the first half.
CATHERINE CRISTINO was a perfect 3-for-3 from the field in the first half, leading the team with eight points.
The second half was no different, as the Red Hawks allowed two made field goals over the final 10:09. The Hawks, who turned the ball over 39 times, recorded just 16 points in the second half.
Cristino paced MSU with 10 points, while
JESSICA GARRABRANT and
JAMILEE PFLUG added nine.
JACKIE BERRY and
MARIANNE MCGOVERN each tallied seven points, while the Red Hawks received 27 points from their reserve units.
The Red Hawks remain home on Wednesday, hosting Rutgers-Newark inside Panzer Gym.
