Montclair, N.J. (February 9, 2008) – The Montclair State women's basketball fell to Rutgers-Newark 60-48 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference action.

The Red Hawks drop to 12-8, 5-4 in the NJAC while Rutgers-Newark moves to 17-4, 6-3 in the NJAC.

With the score tied five all, Rutgers-Newark broke the game open with 25-10 run and opened up a 16-point lead at the break. Montclair State shot just 26.9% (7-of-26) from the field in the first 20 minutes. Rutgers-Newark shot 48.3% (14-of-29) including 5-of-9 from three point land.

The lead swelled to 24 at the 15:02 mark of the second, and the Red Hawks were unable to get any closer than 11 points the rest of the way.

KISANDRA AYANBEKU was the lone Red Hawk in double-figures, scoring 11 points while grabbing seven rebounds. JESSICA GARRABRANT tallied eight points and a team-best 10 boards. Nerlande Nicolas led the Rutgers-Newark with 20 points, while Stephanie Ross added 15.
