The Pride (3-5) outscored the Red Hawks, 5-2, in the second half to break open the one-goal halftime lead over Montclair State (6-2). Widener scored the first three goals of the game, taking a 2-0 lead after the first quarter behind senior attack Brian Stromko (Maplewood, N.J.) and would extend the lead with the first goal of the second quarter when senior attack Chris Matthews (Drexel Hill, Pa.) scored unassisted just 3:01 into the quarter.

Montclair State answered with four straight goals, including three by junior attack A.J. Bachman (Montville, N.J.) to take a 4-3 lead with 5:46 left in the second quarter.  The Pride responded with the final two goals of the half, to regain the lead at 5-4 heading into halftime.   The Red Hawks quickly tied the game up in the third quarter, as junior midfielder JOHN SCHIAVONE (Montclair, N.J.) netted the unassisted goal just 16 seconds into the quarter.  Midway through the third quarter, Widener took the lead for good on the first of three straight goals, the first by senior Clint Quedenfeld (Chalfont, Pa.), to extend the lead to 8-5 early in the fourth quarter.

Montclair State trimmed the Pride lead back to two goals on a score by senior attack Brian Klimchak (Clark, N.J.) less than three minutes into the final period, however Widener netted the final two goals of the game to put the final margin at 10-6.
