Montclair, N.J. (January 7, 2009) – The Montclair State women's basketball team opened up a 16-point halftime lead en route to a 73-57 win over Ramapo College.
The Red Hawks move to 8-4 and remain a perfect 3-0 in the NJAC while Ramapo dips to 6-7, 1-2 in conference.
A three-pointer by Stephanie Cannizzaro trimmed the MSU lead to four at 25-21, but the Red Hawks tallied the next nine points to build a double-digit lead. The rally was capped off by a triple from
JENNA TOTARO. The Red Hawks shot a blistering 63% (17-of-27) from the field in the opening 20 minutes while limiting Ramapo to just a 37.5% clip.
After turning the ball over 11 times in the opening half, the Red Hawks settled down in the second. They only recorded six turnovers and forced eight Roadrunner miscues.
KISANDRA AYANBEKU posted a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds, with
JAMILEE PFLUG added 15 points. Cannizzaro tallied a game-high 26 points, while Chardae Moreno came off the bench to notch 10 points.
