Red Hawks Close Out Action at Hampton Inn Crusader Classic

Selinsgrove, PA (10/10/09) – The Montclair State volleyball team closed out competition at the Hampton Inn Crusader Classic on Saturday as the Red Hawks fell to host Susquehanna University and NJAC rival Rowan in three and four sets, respectively.

Senior middle blocker ANNA CHESNAKOVA (East Brunswick, NJ / East Brunswick) had 11 kills and 10 total blocks as she was named to the All-Tournament Team. MSU fell to 6-11 overall this season.

KARA BURNHAM (Moorestown, NJ / Moorestown) ad seven kills for MSU as the Red Hawks lost to the host Crusaders, 25-14, 25-17, 25-10. Sam Karpinski (Hackensack, NJ / Hackensack) added five kills and seven digs with senior KAREN MARTIN (Sicklerville, NJ / Washington Township) recording four kills and six digs. Freshman setter JENNA TOTARO (Secaucus, NJ / Secaucus) contributed 13 assists in the loss.

Chesnakova and Martin each had 10 kills in MSU's 3-1 loss to Rowan. Montclair fell 25-22, 14-25, 25-21, 25-23. Burnham added nine kills and Karpinski eight along with a team-high 13 digs. Totaro posted another double-double with 32 assists and 11 digs. Chesnakova added five total blocks (two unassisted, three assisted). ADRIANNE MOE (Rutherford, NJ / Rutherford) and KRISTEN BRONOWICH (Secaucus, NJ / Secaucus) added nine and eight digs, respectively.
 
Montclair State returns to action on Tuesday, October 13 as they travel to William Paterson to take on Pioneers at 7:00 pm.
