Pomona, NJ (10/20/09) – Richard Stockton (10-5-1, 4-3 NJAC) broke out of scoring drought in a big way as the Ospreys defeated Montclair State (8-4-2, 2-3-2) 3-0 on Tuesday evening.
Leah Pocoroba (Galloway/Holy Spirit) and Shelley Gibney (Shamong/Seneca) each had a goal and assist. Amanda Altman (Beachwood/Toms River South) finished the scoring with 58 seconds remaining, on Gibney's crossing pass.
Maria Dorris (Mantua/Clearview) stopped one shot for her fourth shutout of the season.
LEAH TEPPERMAN (North Andover, MA/North Andover) made five saves as Stockton got off eight shots on goal.
After a scoreless first half, Gibney got Stockton on the board after she weaved her way past three defenders. Pocoroba then got past Montclair's defense and hit the net with 10:36 remaining for an unassisted goal, before Altman scored the final tally. Stockton broke a 308-minute scoring drought with the goals tonight as the Ospreys snapped Montclair's five-game unbeaten streak.
