Hoboken, NJ (10/3/2009) – The Montclair State volleyball team closed out its appearance in the Ducks Invitational with losses to New Paltz and CCNY on Saturday afternoon at Stevens.
The Red Hawks (5-7) fell to New Paltz in straight sets before suffering a 3-1 loss to CCNY
Montclair dropped the first set to New Paltz 27-25 before the Hawks closed out the match with 25-17 and 25-19 victories.
KAREN MARTIN had nine kills and 11 digs for MSU while
KARA BURNHAM and
SAMANTHA KARPINSKI had six apiece.
ANNA CHESNAKOVA added five kills and four blocks with
MICHELLE DEL VALLE totaling 28 assists along with eight digs.
MEGHAN STEVENS led MSU with 20 digs in addition to a pair of service aces.
MSU captured the first set versus CCNY 27-25 however the Beavers won the next two by identical two-point margins (25-23 and 26-24) before posting a 25-16 win in the fourth to close out the match. Martin had 12 kills and Karpinski eight as the two posted 17 and 10 digs, respectively. Chesnakova tallied 10 blocks and seven kills with Del Valle netting 36 assists and 11 digs.
The Red Hawks will look to get back on the winning track on Tuesday, October 6 when it hosts Rutgers-Camden at the Panzer Athletic Center with first serve set for 7:00 pm.
