Middletown, Conn. (March 16, 2009) – The Montclair State men's lacrosse team was unable to overcome an 8-4 halftime deficit en route to a 13-10 setback at the hands of No. 14 Wesleyan University.
The Red Hawks leveled the game at four on a
TYLER MEIXNER goal early in the second period, but Wesleyan rolled off nine of the next 10 goals to break the game open. Montclair attempted to rally late, pumping in three goals in the final 2:40, but were unable to get any closer than 13-10.
Wesleyan was led by Russ Follansbee, who scored three goals and three assists, and by four points from Dan Latzman. Matt Ward was extremely successful in the "X" winning 18-of-26 faceoffs.
TYLER METH and
ROBERT SINICOLA each notched two goals and two assists, while
TAYLOR BONNER had three goals. Goalkeeper
THOMAS BOWERS made 12 saves in the loss.
