Farmingdale, N.Y. (March 28, 2009) – The Montclair State men's lacrosse team doubled up Farmingdale State 16-8 in the Skyline Conference opener for both teams.
The Red Hawks fell behind 3-2 before the team reeled three consecutive man-up tallies to take a 5-3 lead with 11:15 left in the second quarter. Mike Maxwell notched a goal for Farmingdale to stop the run; but the Red Hawks would bounce back in a big way.
PATRICK NANN started an 8-0 run by Montclair State, breaking the game wide open. Nann and
TYLER METH each recorded a hat-trick during the spurt, with
MARIO PASSAFIUME adding an additional goal. Farmingdale closed to within seven, but Brad Van Karlsbeck finished the scoring off with a tally with just 1:43 to go.
Meth led Montclair with five goals, while
MIKE CORSETTO had two goals and four assists.
PATRICK FERRY and
JOHN SCHIAVONE each recorded six ground balls, while
THOMAS BOWERS made four saves in 51:35 of action. Sean Maxwell led Farmingdale with three goals and an assist.
