Women's Lacrosse Falls Against FDU-Florham

Madison, NJ (3/7/09) – Senior attack Amanda Wayne (Bellport, NY/Bellport) had four goals and two assists while the College at Florham Devils scored 12 first half goals on their way to a 16-4 win over Montclair State in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Devils improved to 1-1.

Senior MARYKATE DIBENEDETTO (CInnaminson, NJ / Cinnaminson) had two goals for the Red Hawks, who fell to 0-3 on the season.

Wayne and senior midfielder Laura Gambardello (Pennsauken, NJ/Pennsauken) got the Devils off to a 2-0 lead before the Red Hawks cut it to 2-1 on DiBenedetto's first goal.  FDU then scored 10 of the next 11 goals, with two apiece coming from Wayne, junior attack Kristen Schuster (Centereach, NY/Centereach) and freshman attack Breana Kilpatrick (Pennsauken, NJ/Camden Catholic), to take a 12-2 halftime lead. Sopohmore KAYLA HENDERSON (Succasunna, NJ / Roxbury) had the other goal for the Red Hawks.

The Devils then scored four of the first five goals of the second half to put the game away for good. Freshman CORA DELFINI (New Egypt, NJ / New Egypt) and DiBendetto each had goal in the half for the Red Hawks.

Gambardello and Kilpatrick each finished with three goals while Schuster and junior attack Linda Bohn (Vernon, NJ/Vernon Twp.) had two goals apiece.  Senior goalkeeper Christine Dunn (Pennsauken, NJ/Pennsauken) made seven saves to pick up the win.

DEMI MASTERSON (Long Valley, NJ / West Morris Central) had five saves for Montclair State while TRACEY MANELLA (Haworth, NJ / NV-Demarest) made two stops.

Montclair State returns to action on Tuesday, March 10 as the Red Hawks host Stevens at Sprague Field beginning at 4:00 pm.
