Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Bonner's Late Tally Sends Men's Lacrosse Past Stockton

Pomona, NJ (4/11/09)TAYLOR BONNER (Old Bridge/Old Bridge) scored the game-winning goal with 3:21 remaining to lift Montclair State (8-4, 3-0) to an 8-7 victory over Richard Stockton (6-4, 1-1) in Skyline Conference action today.

Bonner netted a game-high four goals and TYLER METH (Basking Ridge/Ridge) added three tallies for the Red Hawks.  Montclair goalkeeper THOMAS BOWERS (Hamburg/Pope John XXIII) registered 16 saves for the win.

Brendan McCarthy (Howell/Howell) paced Stockton with two goals and one assist.  Josh Dybus (Lyndhurst/St. Peter's Prep), Matt Bell (Jackson/Jackson) and Kyle Marlborough (Howell/Howell) each finished with a goal and an assist for the Ospreys.

McCarthy scored the third of three consecutive Stockton goals that gave the Ospreys a 4-2 lead for minutes into the second quarter.  The two-goal gap was the largest of the game as the teams went back and forth.  Montclair answered with its own three-goal outburst that was capped by Bonner to put the Red Hawks on top 5-4 early in the third quarter.

Stockton regained the lead 6-5 on tallies by Matt Bologno (Glen Gardner/Voorhees) and Dybus.  Bonner struck again for Montclair to knot the match at 6-6 with 5:45 left in the third quarter.  McCarthy scored a minute later to put Stockton back in front 7-6, but Meth answered for Montclair to produce a 7-7 tie after three periods.  Bonner scored the only goal of the fourth quarter with 3:21 on the clock to propel the Red Hawks to the 8-7 win.

The Red Hawks are now off until next Saturday, April 18 when they host Muhlenberg College at Sprague Field in a 1:00 pm start.
