Hoboken, NJ (10/1/10) – The Montclair State volleyball team dropped its first two matches at the Ducks Invitational on Friday evening as the Red Hawks lost to NYU-Polytechnic and Williams at Stevens Institute.
Sophomore
ALYSSA BATISTE (Manahawkin, NJ / Southern Regional) had 10 kills, 21 assists and six digs for MSU, which fell to 2-19. Montclair lost to Polytechnic for the second time in six days by scored of 25-22, 25-20 and 25-16. Williams topped the Red Hawks 25-13, 25-12, 25-20.
Freshman
MARTA TOPOR (Bogota, NJ / Bogota) registered nine kills and four digs while Batiste added six kills, eight assists and four digs.
RHIANNA RATTA (Belleville, NJ / Belleville) added three kills while
KAITLYN IRWIN (Cranford, NJ / Cranford) notched 12 digs.
Topor had eight kills in the loss to Williams. Batiste added four kills along with 13 assists and two digs. Irwin recorded 12 digs.
The Red Hawks close out action in the Ducks Invitational on Saturday, October 2 with a pair of matches versus MIT at 3:00 pm and Baruch College at 5:00 pm.
