Swimming Falls to TCNJ

Ewing, NJ (10/23/10) – The Montclair State men's and women's swimming and diving teams fell to conference power The College of New Jersey on Saturday afternoon. The MSU men, now 0-2 overall (0-1 NJAC) suffered a 178-105 loss while the Montclair women's squad (0-2 overall, 0-1 NJAC) fell to the Lions 177-112.

Sophomore ASHLEY VALLONE (Park Ridge, NJ / Park Ridge) was a double-winner for the Red Hawks. Vallone captured the 50 freestyle with a winning time of 24.95 seconds. She would add her second win in the 100 butterfly timing in at 1:03.68 to win the event.

Junior CHRIS LEE (Morris Plains, NJ / Parsippany Hills) was the lone winner on the men's side as he took top honors in the 200 breaststrok. Lee clocked in at 2:20.08 and he also finished second in the 200 individual medley (2:08.62). Junior KELLY ABNER (Glenwood, NJ / Vernon) was victorious in the 200 IM on the women's side as she covered the distance in a time of 2:19.63.

The Red Hawks return to the pool next Saturday, October 30 as they travel to Schenectady, NY for the Union College Relays. MSU will take on host Union College as well as Coast Guard and New Paltz.
