Swimming and Diving Sweeps Adelphi

Garden City, NY (11/6/10) – The Montclair State men's and women's swimming and diving teams each picked up their first victories on the season as the Red Hawks swept a dual meet with Division II Adelphi On Saturday afternoon. The men topped the Panthers 71-51 while the women registered a 66-52 triumph as both teams moved to 1-2 on the season.

Junior CHRIS LEE (Morris Plains, NJ / Parsippany Hills) was a triple winner for the men as he captured both the 100 and 200 breaststroke events in addition to winning the 200 individual medley. Lee swam the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:03.60 before coming back to take the 200 with a time of 2:21.85. He won the 200 IM clocking in at 2:06.66.

For the MSU women, sophomore MARIA VIRA (Bayonne, NJ / Bayonne) won the 100 and 200 breaststroke while freshman KELSIE DONAHUE (Egg Harbor Township, NJ / Egg Harbor Township) took first place in both the 100 and 100 backstroke. Vira had times of 1:12.34 and 2:37.24, respectively.

The Red Hawks are back in action next Friday evening, November 12 as they travel to Drew University for a 6:00 pm matchup with the Rangers.
