Carlisle, PA (3/6/10) – Dickinson College senior Ted Sirvaitis (Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) tallied a game-high five goals to lead the Red Devil men's lacrosse team to a 9-6 win over Montclair State University on Saturday. The Red Devils remain unbeaten, raising their record to 4-0 on the season while MSU suffered its second straight loss falling to 1-2.
The Red Devils stormed out to a 7-1 lead, holding a 3-1 advantage at the end of the first quarter. Sirvaitis tallied all three Devil goals in the opening quarter.
Brendan O'Brien (Garden City, N.Y./Chaminade) scored off an assist from Stephen O'Brien (Garden City, N.Y./Chaminade) to close out the first half with the Devils in front, 7-1.
Montclair opened the second half with back-to-back goals by 
TAYLOR BONNER (Old Bridge, NJ / Old Brdige) and 
ROBERT SINICOLA (North Caldwell, NJ / West Essex) , cutting the deficit to 7-3 with 9:37 left to play in the third period.
Sirvaitis traded goals with Montclair's 
TYLER METH (Basking Ridge, NJ / Ridge) to make the score 8-4, heading into the final quarter.
MIKE CORSETTO (Kinnelon, NJ / Kinnelon) capitalized on a Dickinson penalty with an extra-man goal just 20 seconds into the fourth. Matt Cherry (Radnor, Pa./Radnor) gave the Devils some breathing room, scoring on a nice dodge to make the score 9-5 with 6:18 remaining in the game.
Bonner tacked on another extra-man goal with 2:50 before the Devils were able to run out the clock for a final of 9-6.
Cherry finished with two goals and an assist to go with Sirvaitis' five tallies. Chip Murray (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) had a strong day at the "X", winning 13-of-17 face-offs and controlling five ground balls.
Chris Breslin (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) and Al Golod (Lloyd Harbor, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) each caused a pair of turnovers while combining for seven ground balls. John Haire (Darien, Conn./Darien) also anchored a solid defensive effort.
Senior Tyler Magann (Easton, Pa./The Hill School) made seven saves in goal for the Red Devils, improving his mark to 4-0 as well.
Bonner led MSU (1-2) with three goals and two assists while 
MATTHEW PRONGAY (Edison, NJ / Edison) collected three assists. 
ANDREW ROSADO (Elmwood Park, NJ / St. Joseph's (Montvale)) stopped 14 shots in the cage.
