Second-Half Run Keys Ramapo by MSU

Mahwah, NJ – Ramapo College, ranked 23rd in Division III, used a 10-2 run near the midway point of the second to open up an eight-point advantage en route to a 78-68 victory snapping Montclair State's five-game winning streak at the Bradley Center on Saturday evening.

Junior forward ANDREW AUGUST (Bridgewater, NJ / Bridgewater-Raritan) posted a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds however it wasn't enought as the Red Hawks lost for the first time since January 10 - a 75-66 loss to the Roadrunners (17-4, 8-1 NJAC) giving Ramapo a sweep of the season series.

The loss also dropped Montclair to 1 1/2 games behind Ramapo for the top spot in the NJAC North Division. MSU, now 17-5 overall, 8-3 in the conference, is a 1 1/2 games in front of third-place New Jersey City in the division. The top three teams from each division advance to the NJAC Tournament which begins on Saturday, February 19.

August also had seven steals as he fell one theft shy of tying the single-game record. Sophomore guard A.J. LARKIN (Passaic, NJ / St. Mary's) added 18 points and five rebounds while senior guard RODNEY FREENEY (Piscataway, NJ / Piscataway) registered 11 points, four rebounds and three assists.

The Red Hawks are now off until Saturday, February 12 when they travel to the Golden Dome in Newark, NJ to face North Division foe Rutgers-Newark at 8:00 pm.
