TYLER METH (Basking Ridge, NJ / Ridge) and freshman
TREVOR TEEL (Oakland, NJ / Don Bosco Prep) each scored two goals as Montclair State moved back to the .500 mark with an 8-3 victory over Marywood University at Sprague Field on Tuesday afternoon.
Senior midfielder Bobby Sinicola (North Caldwell, NJ / West Essex) had a goal and two assists as the Red Hawks evened their record at 2-2.
Greg Nester (Pottstown, PA / Owen J. Roberts), Nick Parks (Emmaus, PA / Emmaus) and Jamie Beagan (Patchogue, NY / Patchogue-Medford) each tallied once for the Pacers, who had their two-game winning streak snapped and fell to 4-2.
Montclair State never trailed in the contest and scored the first six goals, including two in the opening period. Sophomore
JACK SKEELS (Roseland, NJ / West Essex) put MSU on the board as he scored off a
MIKE CORSETTO (Kinnelon, NJ / Kinnelon) assist with 10:06 left.
THOMAS RING (Nutley, NJ / Nutley) collected the second as he scored a man-up goal with 2:32 to play as Montclair State led 2-0 after one quarter.
MSU would score three times in the second for five-goal lead at the break. Teel had a hand in all three scores collecting his first 2:06 into the quarter on an unassisted tally. He then assisted on Meth's man-up marker with 4:55 left and capped off Montclair's first half with his second goal with 1:36 on the clock.
MATTHEW PRONGAY (Edison, NJ / Edison) scored 1:54 into the third quarter to make the score 6-0 and Meth's second man-up tally of the game with 8:24 left capped the run.
Junior goalkeeper
MARK GLANDER (Vernon, NJ / Vernon Township) made nine saves for MSU in 55:19 of action before giving way to freshman
MICHAEL DORN (Blairstown, NJ / North Warren), who had two stops in his four-plus minutes of play.
MARC GUIDO (North Caldwell, NJ / West Essex) won 8-of-12 faceoffs and had four ground balls. Glander led Montclair State with seven ground balls.
Senior goalkeeper Jesse Habich (Broomall, PA / Marple Newtown) stopped six shots for Marywood, which outshot Montclair 28-27 in thegame. Nester recorded seven ground balls as did George Downey IV (Palmura, PA / Palmyra Area). William Roerden (Warwick, NY / Warwick) forced three turnovers.
Both teams are back in action on Saturday, March 19 with home contests. Montclair State hosts SUNY Plattsburgh at Sprague Field beginning at 4:00 pm while Marywood takes on crosstown rival University of Scranton at 1:00 pm.
