Prongay, Skeels Lead Men's Lacrosse Past Mount St. Vincent

Montclair, NJ (4/16/11) – Junior attack Matt Prongay (Edison, NJ / Edison) scored three times while senior Bobby Sinicola (North Caldwell, NJ / West Essex) added a goal and three assists as Montclair State won its third straight game, downing Mount St. Vincent 15-3 at Sprague Field on Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore JACK SKEELS (Roseland, NJ / West Essex) scored three goals and added an assist while junior TYLER METH (Basking Ridge, NJ / Ridge) had two goals and an assist as the Red Hawks climbed back to the .500 mark at 6-6 overall while improving to 3-1 in the Skyline Conference.

Senior Mike Shea (Congers, NY / Clarkstown North), Mike Visintin (Yonkers, NY / Mount St. Michael) and Cavan Valance (Glen Cove, NY / Glen Cove) scored a goal apiece for the Dolphins, who dropped their second straight following a three-game winning streak. Mount St. Vincent is also 6-6 on the year, 1-4 in the Skyline Conference.

The Red Hawks scored the first 12 goals of the game, including five in the first quarter. Meth scored 42 seconds into the game on a man-advantage and Skeels connected on another man-up opportunity midway through for a 2-0 lead. Prongay registered the natural hat trick for the final three goals including two in a 62-second span as MSU led 5-0 after the first.

Sinicola scored with 8:52 left in the second and ANTHONY RYBEK (Old Bridge, NJ / Old Bridge) got a goal less than a minute later before Skeels' second gave Montclair three tallies in a 1:49 span as the lead grew to 8-0. Sinicola fed THOMAS RING (Nutley, NJ / Nutley) for a man-up goal with 2:10 remaining as the Red Hawks led 9-0 at the break.

Rybek, Meth and JOHN TALAMO (Freehold, NJ / Freehold) capped off the Montclair run in the third before the Dolphins got on the board with 13:10 left in the fourth on Valance's goal off a feed from Shea.

Talamo finished with two goals for Montclair State while KYLE HEARN (Sussex, NJ / Vernon Township) and GREG FITZGERALD (Glen Ridge, NJ / Glen Ridge) had two assists apiece. Junior goalkeeper MARK GLANDER (Vernon, NJ / Vernon Township ) made eight saves. MARC GUIDO (North Caldwell, NJ / West Essex) was 8-of-9 on faceoffs and ROBERT GLANDER (Vernon, NJ / Vernon Township) was 8-of-13  with six ground balls.

Dom Scipioni (Yonkers, NY / Mt. St. Michael) had 11 saves for the Dolphins. Chris Guastamacchia (Monroe, NY / Burke Catholic) had five faceoff wins and four ground balls.

Montclair State returns to action on Tuesday, April 19 as they take on Mount St. Mary in Newburgh, NY at 7:00 pm. The Dolphins are home the following day as they face Farmingdale State at 7:00 pm.
