Farmingdale, NY – Senior attack
Maggie Fallon (Cherry Hill, NJ, Camden Catholic) will always remember that game in which she scored her 100th career goal. However it will be her 102nd goal that she will be more remembered for.
Fallon scored with 39 seconds left providing an insurance goal as second-seeded Montclair State captured its third consecutive Skyline Conference Women's Lacrosse Championship and sixth overall league title with a 14-12 win over top-seeded Farmingdale State on Saturday.
Fallon scored five goals and was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player as the Red Hawks (13-4) earned the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Championship. Pairings for the national tournament will be announced on Sunday, May 6 with first-round matchups set for Wednesday, May 9.
Montclair State will be the host for the national semifinals and final on May 19-20 at Sprague Field.
Junior
Kailee Beal (Succasunna, NJ, Roxbury) had four goals and an assist and
Tierney Conlon (Caldwell, NJ, Caldwell) two goals and five assists as Montclair avenged a 13-7 loss to the Rams on March 24, just the third loss to a Skyline opponent by MSU since it joined the league in 2006. The Red Hawks are 46-2 during the regular season and 13-1 in the Skyline Tournament with all three losses coming against Farmingdale, including the 2009 championship game.
Fallon's goal finished off a game-ending 4-1 run by Montclair State as the Red Hawks trailed 11-10 with 15:14 to play after Krystin Shand scored on an unassisted tally. The Red Hawks would counter quickly as Beal connected twice in a 58-second span putting Montclair back in front 12-11 with 13:08 to go.
Less than three minutes later, Beal set up Conlon for a goal as MSU held a 13-11 lead with 9:37 remaining. From that point, neither team would muster much offensive although Farmingdale's Christy Thoden hit the post with 2:44 left which would have cut the lead to one.
Jordyn Hasemann found the back of the net for the Rams with 1:19 to play as Farmingdale pulled within a goal. However Montclair State's
Stephanie Cantillo (Clifton, NJ, Clifton)came up with the all-important draw control and worked time off the clock before Conlon found Fallon for the goal that sealed the championship and the trip to the NCAAs for the Red Hawks.
Montclair stormed out of the gate with the game's first five goals in the first 5:18 of the game. Beal had two in that run, however the Rams chipped away at the lead and got 9-8 with 14 seconds left in the first half before Thoden's goal early in the second tied the game at 9-9. Fallon, who recorded career goal No. 100 with 9:18 left in the first period, put the Red Hawks back up 10-9 on a free position goal.
Farmingdale retook the lead midway through the half as Nicole Marzocca and Shand scored 39 seconds apart giving the Rams an 11-10 lead.
Kelly Schoneveld (Denville, NJ, Morris Knolls) had two goals for Montclair State while Beal set a new MSU single-game record with 11 draws breaking her own mark of 10 reached twice this year. Junior goalkeeper
Tiffani Henderson (Landing, NJ, Roxbury) made 10 saves for the Red Hawks.

CORA DELFINI and
