Meet Results
Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State men's and women's swimming and diving teams each picked up their first dual meet victory of the season as the Red Hawks swept Division II Adelphi University at the Panzer Athletic Center Pool on Saturday.
The men recorded a 143-100 victory over the Panthers while the women posted a 145-103 win as each team moved to 1-2 on the year.
Freshman
Nick Kalafatis (Cranford, NJ, Cranford) was a triple-winner for the men's team as she took top honors in the 100 freestyle (50.27), 1000 freestyle (10:08.87) where he led a 1-2 MSU finish, and the 200 butterfly (2:06.46.).
Joseph Berry (Edison, NJ, Edison) won both the 100 backstroke and the 50 freestyle posting times of 58.21 and 2.9 respectively.
Brendon Burkett (Egg Harbor Township, NJ, Egg Harbor) captured the 200 freestyle in a time of 1:54.26 while
Michael Smith (Cherry Hill, NJ, Cherry Hill East) won the 200 backstroke recording a winning time of 2:07.68.
Nicandro Donadio (Mountainside, NJ, Governor Livingston) claimed a victory in the 500 freestyle and the Red Hawks' 200 medley relay team of
Brian Ubhaus (Jefferson Township, NJ, Jefferson),
David DuBois (Wayne, NJ, Wayne Valley),
Richard Sang (Stockholm, NJ, Vernon) and Burkett won that event in a time of 1:46.74.
On the women's side,
Gabriella Bosa (Freehold, NJ, Freehold Township) won the 100 and 200 freestyle events as she swam 57.73 in the 100 and 2:07.31 in the 200 free. Sophomore
Katherine LaCava (Milltown, NJ, Mount St. Mary's) was a double winner claiming the 1000 freestyle in a time of 11:22.67 and te 200 breaststroke in 2:41.31.
Tori Holtzberg (Ridgewood, NJ, Ridgewood) won the 100 backstroke (1:07.72) and
Christine Werner (Livingston, NJ, Livingston) led a 1-2-3 finish in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:13.44. Sydney Stein also won the 200 butterfly in a time of 2:20.15.
Kelsie Donahue (Egg Harbor, NJ, Egg Harbor Township) was a winner in the 200 backstroke (2:21.59) and also swam the leadoff leg of the 200 medley relay team that took first place. She was joined in that group by
Jessica Joseph (Brick, NJ, Brick Township), who swam 26.83 to win the 50 freestyle,
Julie Hansen (Berkeley Heights, NJ, Governor Livingston) and Bosa.
The Red Hawks are back in action on Friday, November 8 as they host Drew University at the Panzer Athletic Center Pool beginning at 6:00 pm.
