Montclair, NJ – Junior midfielder Lucas Terci (Union, NJ, Union) scored twice and assisted on another goal while classmate Damian Bziukiewicz (East Rutherford, NJ, Becton Regional) added a goal and two assists as Montclair State extended its winning streak to seven matches with a 5-1 win over Rowan at MSU Soccer Park on Saturday evening.

Senior Maxx Wurzburger (Glen Rock, NJ, Glen Rock) and sophomore Mike Olla (Bloomfield, NJ, St. Benedict's Prep) also had goals as the Red Hawks upped their record to 11-3 overall while remaining unbeaten in the NJAC at 5-0.

Travis Ward (New Egypt, NJ / New Egypt) had the lone goal for Rowan, which suffered its second straight loss. The Profs fell to 8-6 overall, 3-2 in the conference.

The two teams traded possession and early opportunities before the Red Hawks struck first on Olla's fourth goal of the season in the 16^th minute. Terci put through a ball inside the box on the left side where Olla picked it up and knocked a shot off the near post before tapping in the rebound for a 1-0 Montclair State lead.

Terci extended the lead less than three minutes later with the first of his two tallies. Bziukiewicz served a ball from the right side into the middle where a charging Terci was able to flick a header past Rowan keeper Kevin Vasta (Randolph, NJ / Randolph) for a 2-0 MSU advantage at the 18:17 mark.

It became 3-0 in the 32^nd minute on Bziukiewicz's fifth tally of the year, a header on a ball served from Wurzburger near the midfield line.

Montclair State held that three-goal lead into the second half and almost saw it chipped away as Rowan came within inches of cutting the deficit to two in the 61^st minute. Ward tried to bang in a shot from in close that was stopped by Michael Gonzalez (Kenilworth, NJ, Union Catholic). The rebound came back out to Vinny Ignatowicz (Toms River, NJ / Toms River South) who was denied by Gonzalez and a third shot by Shane Guyer (Hammonton, NJ / Hammonton) was also stopped.

Wurzburger increased the lead to 4-0 scoring at the 65:06 mark as he took a pass along the top of the box from Terci before ripping a shot into the left side. Terci got the final goal for Montclair State at 66:24 one-timing a pass from Bziukiewicz. It was the ninth goal of the year for Terci.

Rowan would avert the shutout in the 70^th minute with Ward collecting his eighth of the year off an assist from Dante Nocito (Delran, NJ / Delran).

Gonzalez tallied five saves in picking up his eighth win of the year while Vasta stopped three shots for Rowan. The Profs outshot the Red Hawks 17-14 with Rowan also holding a 4-2 edge in corner kicks.

Montclair State returns to action on Wednesday, October 15 when it travels to Union, NJ to face Kean University in an NJAC matchup at 7:30 pm.
