Kyle Goodwin (South Brunswick, NJ, South Brunswick) each had a goal and assist as Montclair State captured its 10
th straight victory with a 5-0 non-conference victory over York College (NY) at MSU Soccer Park on Monday evening.
Mike Olla (Bloomfield, NJ, St. Benedict's Prep),
Brendan Guzman (Clifton, NJ, Clifton) and
Aaron Rose (Williamstown, NJ, Williamstown) each had goals as the Red Hawks upped their record to 14-3 capturing the initial meeting between the schools. The 10-game winning streak is the longest since MSU won 12 in row two seasons ago (2012).
Terci, who now has a point in each of the last six games, put the Red Hawks on the board 83 seconds into the contest with his 11
th goal of the season.
James Buonavita (Oakland, NJ, Ramapo) sent a ball through along the right side that was picked up by Terci who then moved in before letting go a shot the ricocheted off the left post and in for the 1-0 lead.
Olla extended the lead to 2-0 just over six minutes later blasting in a pass for his sixth goal of the year. Buonavita served a ball deep inside the box to Terci, who settled the ball before sliding it over to Olla.
Guzman's first goal of the season off a free kick by Goodwin gave Montclair State a 3-0 lead at halftime and the Red Hawks made it a four-goal advantage at 54:37 when
Aaron Rose (Williamstown, NJ, Williamstown) one-timed a cross from
Sam Katz (Livingston, NJ, Livingston). Goodwin capped off the scoring two minutes later with his 11
th of the year matching Terci for the team lead.
Senior goalkeeper
Kevin Lynch (Cinnaminson, NJ, Cinnaminson) made three saves as he registered his first shutout of the season.
Montclair State outshot the Cardinals (5-12), 27-9 while also taking 12 of the 13 corner kicks in the contest.
The Red Hawks return to action on Saturday, October 25 with a 6:00 pm NJAC matchup at home against Ramapo College.
