Mahwah, NJ – The Montclair State volleyball team saw its 2014 season come to an end as the fifth-seeded Red Hawks lost a heart-breaking five-set match to No. 4 seed Ramapo in the first round of the NJAC Tournament at the Bradley Center on Tuesday evening.

MADISON MAUTE recorded a season-best 17 kills along with five blocks while classmate
HAYLEY MERRILL added 13 kills and 17 digs as MSU won the first set 25-15 and took a 2-1 lead with a 25-23 win in the third set before the Roadrunners (25-8) rallied for a 25-18 win in the fourth set and 15-10 victory in the decisive fifth set.
The Red Hawks close out one of their most successful seasons in program history at 23-11, the 23 victories a single-season record for MSU.
Maute hit .483 committing just three errors in 29 attempts. Sophomore
COURTNEY MATLOCK had 10 kills along with three service aces while sophomore
MELISSA TERPSTRA chipped in with five kills, two aces and 14 digs. Setter
ANGELA CAMPO, playing in her final match for the Red Hawks had 46 assists and 14 digs. Campo concluded her career with 3,427 assists, the second-highest total in Montclair State history.
