Meet ResultsMadison, NJ – The Montclair State men's and women's swimming and diving teams each picked up victories on Friday evening as the Red Hawks swept a dual meet with Drew University. The MSU men collected their first win of the year (1-3) downing the Rangers 158-93 while the women (2-2) posted a 139-95 triumph.
The MSU men won 10 events in the meet, including the first one as the 200 medley relay team of
DEVON D'AGOSTA,
DAN KNEPPLE,
MICHAEL PACHECO and
MARK DAWES captured the event with a time of 1:43.88.
ALAN BUOB and Pacheco led a 1-2 MSU finish in the 1000 freestyle with times of 11:21.67 and 11:37.06, respectively with
ANDREW DAMATO and
BRENDAN TURNER doing the same in the 200 freestyle. Damato swam 1:54.60 while Turner posted a time of 1:55.88.
D'Agosta added the first of his two victories on the evening in the 50 backstroke leading a 1-2-3 Montclair Sate finish as
NICANDRO DONADIO and
PHILLIP PHAM came in second and third. D'Agosta swam 26.13 with Donadio and Pham coming in a 28.92 and 29.86 seconds. The Red Hawk would do it again in the 100 butterfly as Dawes swam 57.27 with
KEVIN KOLESA (59.24) and
ZACK RYAN (59.73) placing second and third.
Knepple captured the 50 breaststroke in a time of 29.67 seconds while Donadio won the 100 breaststroke clocking in at 1:03.67.
BRIAN UBHAUS, Damato and Turner went 1-2-3 in the 100 backstroke with D'Agosta and Pacheco taking the top two spots in the 100 freestyle in times of 51.28 and 53.69, respectively. Kolesa was a winner in the 500 freestyle covering the distance in a time of 5:09.99 and Herman Fuentes was second at 5:54.56.
For the women,
ASHLEY SINGEWALD led a 1-2-3 finish by Montclair in the 1000 freestyle as she posted a time of 11:27.05.
ALEXANDRA PENCUZUK was second (12:04.18) with
CATHERINE O'KANE finishing third in a time of 12:37.40. Junior
SYDNEY STEIN won the 200 freestyle in a time of 2:06.14 and
ALYSON GAWIN took the top spot in the 50 backstroke (30.95).
JESSICA JOSEPH was first in the 50 breaststroke with a time of 32.96 seconds and
SAMANTHA DOWD won the 50 freestyle posting a time of 26.10 seconds.
ALLISON BARTH led a 1-2 showing by the Red Hawks in the 100 butterfly coming in at 1:05.67.
KATHLEEN FRENCH, who was second in the 100 fly, led a 1-2-3 finish by MSU in the 500 freestyle as she swam 5:46.85.
TORI HOLZBERG and Dowd posted time of 5:47.09 and 6:01.49, respectively.
Freshman
ERIN CANNON joined Joseph,
KATHERINE LACAVA and Dowd in winning the 200 medley relay (1:58.57).
The Red Hawks are right back in action on Saturday, November 8 as they head to Jersey City, NJ for a tri-meet against St. Peter's University and Manhattan College beginning at 12:00 pm
