Men's Basketball Winning Streak Halted as Red Hawks Fall at Richard Stockton, 74-54

Goldson, Singleton Each Hit Double Figures for MSU

Galloway Township, NJ – The Montclair State men's basketball team had its three-game winning streak snapped as the Red Hawks fell to Richard Stockton, 74-54 on Saturday afternoon.

Richard Stockton (17-4, 11-3 NJAC) used a 24-6 run between the end of the first half and beginning of the second, to pull away for its  fourth win in the last five games as the Ospreys avenged an earlier 70-69 defeat to the Red Hawks (9-12, 6-9 NJAC).

Stockton forced 18 turnovers that led to 23 points during the contest. The Ospreys shot 12-24 (50.0% from three point range including 6-10 in the second half.
 
With Stockton leading the game 25-24 with 6:27 left in the first stanza, the Ospreys ran off 14 of the next 17 points to take a 39-27 lead into the break. James William (Englewood/Englewood) scored all four of his first half points while Rich Suhr (Toms River/Toms River East) and Rameel Johnson (Newark/Science Park) banged in shots from behind the arc to spur the run.
 
The Ospreys picked right up where they left off to start period number two, rattling off 10 more points. Josh Biamon (Cinnaminson/Cinnaminson) hit two from distance with Williams and Kevin Johnson (Paulsboro/Paulsboro) tallying two points each to put the game out of reach. The rest of the half was uneventful as Stockton cruised to the final of 74-54.
 
Blamon scored 13 of his game high 16 points after the break, while Rameel Johnson and Anthony Woodward (Atlantic City/Atlantic City) added 14 and 10 points respectively. Rameel Johnson topped all players with 11 rebounds, his fourth double/double in his last six games and seventh overall. Woodard tallied a career high in points for the game. Suhr dished six assists with Kevin Johnson adding five dimes. Suhr, Kevin Johnson and Blamon all pilfered three steals.
 
Ordel Goldson (Hackettstown, NJ, Warren Hills) topped the Red Hawks with 14 points and 10 rebounds while teammate Daniel Singleton (Neptune, NJ, Neptune) added 12 markers as the only players in double figures for Montclair State.

The Red Hawks will look to get back on the winning track on Wednesday, February 12 as it hosts New Jersey City University at 8:00 pm in an NJAC matchup at the Panzer Athletic Center.
