Women's Lacrosse Stays Unbeaten as Red Hawks Push Past Muhlenberg, 17-10

Bussiere Six Goals, Conlon Seven Points as MSU Moves to 4-0

Montclair, NJ – Junior midfielder Jenna Bussiere (Dayton, NJ, South Brunswick) scored six goals while junior Tierney Conlon (Caldwell, NJ, Caldwell) added five along with two assists as Montclair State remained unbeaten with a 17-10 victory over Muhlenberg College at Sprague Field on Friday afternoon.

Senior Kelly Schoneveld (Denville, NJ, Morris Knolls) added four goals for the Red Hawks, who are off to their second consecutive 4-0 start.

After trading the first six goals of the game, Montclair State pulled away with a five-goal run for a 10-minute span for an 8-3 lead. Bussiere began the barrage with a free-position attempt goal and Schoneveld followed with an unassisted tally with 15:38 left for a 5-3 lead.

Kara Crampton (Kinnelon, NJ, Kinnelon) set up Conlon for a goal and Bussiere followed with another free-position tally giving the Red Hawks a four-goal lead with 10:49 left. Schoneveld capped the run with her second goal with 8:21 to go before halftime.

The Mules (2-1) battled back closing out the half with three unanswered goals trimming the MSU lead to 8-6.

Bussiere however ignited a four-goal outburst by Montclair State to open the second half as the Red Hawks widened their lead to 12-6 with 24:46 remaining in the second period.

Crampton finished with two assists for the Red Hawks, who got 15 saves from sophomore goalkeeper Alexandra Tepper (Flanders, NJ, Mount Olive). Bussiere had five draws and two ground balls while Schoneveld collected four draws and forced a pair of turnovers. Kasey Maguire (Marlton, NJ, Cherokee) registered four draws and three ground balls with Tepper pulling in three ground balls.

The Red Hawks are now off until Tuesday, March 11 when it faces Alfred University in Myrtle Beach, SC.
