Meet ResultsMahwah, NJ – The Montclair State men's and women's swimming and diving teams each fell to Ramapo in a New Jersey Athletic Conference dual meet on Sunday at the Bradley Center Pool.
The men (3-9, 0-3 NJAC) lost to the Roadrunners 171-91 while the women's meet was decided in the final event with Ramapo posting a 135-127 victory. The Red Hawk women's team fell to 4-5-1 on the year, 1-2 in the NJAC.
Junior
SYDNEY STEIN was a double winner for the Red Hawks as he won both distance freestyle races. Stein swam 11:28.66 to capture the 1000 freestyle and later added a second victory in the 500 free with a time of 5:23.25. She also finished second in the 200 butterfly (2:20.98). Senior
KATHLEEN FRENCH matched Stein with wins in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.45) and 200 breaststroke (2:31.95) in addition to finishing second in the 200 individual medley (2:20.18).
CHRISTINE WERNER won the 200 IM leading a 1-2-3 finish for MSU in the event. Werner swam 2:20.01 with
KATHERINE LACAVA coming in behind French in third place at 2:20.68. LaCava was a winner in the 200 butterfly posting a time of 2:16.69 and freshman
ERIN CANNON won the 200 backstroke (2:15.50).
ASHLEY SINGEWALD placed second in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 11:38.19.
JESSICA JOSEPH was second in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.77) with Werner taking the same spot in the 200 breaststroke (2:35.13).
On the men's side,
NICANDRO DONADIO was fist in the 1000 freestyle covering the distance in a time of 10:26.55. Freshman
STEVEN ROTH was a two-time winner in the meet sweeping both butterfly events. Roth swam 2:04.35 to win the 200 event and posted a time of 54.68 seconds in the 100 fly.
DAN KNEPPLE had a trio of second-place finishes. He swam 1:05.31 in the 100 breaststroke, 2:22.35 in the 200 breaststroke and 2:07.56 in the 200 individual medley.
Both teams close out their dual meet schedule this Saturday, January 31 at William Paterson beginning at 1:00 pm.
