Meet ResultsMontclair, NJ – The Montclair State men's and women's swimming and diving teams each won eight events, including several 1-2-3 finishes as the Red Hawks swept FDU-Florham in their first dual meet action in nearly a month on Saturday at the Panzer Pool.
The men's team (2-7) registered a 122-89 victory against the Devils while the women triumphed with a 117-91 win to up its record to 3-4-1.
Montclair began the meet with a sweep of the 200 medley as the women's quartet of
ERIN CANNON,
CHRISTINE WERNER,
KATHERINE LACAVA and
KARA O'SULLIVAN posted a time of 2:02.08 while the men's team of
BRIAN UBHAUS,
DAN KNEPPLE,
ANDREW DAMATO and
BRENDAN TURNER swam 11:33.78.
Junior
SYDNEY STEIN led a sweep of the top 3 spots in the 1000 freestyle for MSU as she posted a time of 11:19.55 with Werner timing in at 11:59.53 and
CATHERINE O'KANE registering a time of 12:45.74. On the men's side,
NICANDRO DONADIO had a time of 10:41 in capturing the same event with
ALAN BUOB coming in second at 11:33.78.
O'Sullivan collected an individual win in the 100 backstroke with a time of 2:13.41 while freshman
DEVON D'AGOSTA netting a time of 1:54.62 to capture the men's event.
ALYSON GAWIN won the 100 backstroke in a time of 1:08 and Ubhaus led a 1-2-3 finish for the men with a time of 59.55 seconds.
KEVIN KOLESA and
PHILLIP PHAM were second and third, respectively with times of 1:00.91 and 1:05.55.
JESSICA JOSEPH led the same finish for Montclair State in the 100 breaststroke as she swam 1:13.13. LaCava was second at 1:18.77 and
EILEEN KENNY third in a time of 1:2.61.
The Red Hawks won both 200 butterfly races as Werner took top honors at 2:33.10 while Dawes swam 2:09.64.
KATHLEEN FRENCH (26.44) and Joseph (27.18) were 1-2 in the 50 freestyle with Turner taking the No.1 spot on the men's side with a time of 23.88.
SAMANTHA DOWD won the 100 freestyle posting a time of 58.62 seconds with Dawes earning his second victory of the meet in the same event, clocking in at 52.22 seconds. Donadio led a 1-2-3 finish by MSU in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:20.17.
MSU is now off until Saturday, December 17 when it hosts Rowan University in an NJAC dual meet at 1:00 pm.
