DAMIAN BZIUKIEWICZ scored twice and assisted on two other goals as sixth-ranked Montclair State rolled past Rutgers-Newark 6-0 to capture the New Jersey Athletic Conference regular-season championship at a soggy MSU Soccer Park on Wednesday evening.

KEVIN SIMEK each collected a goal and assist as the Red Hawks (17-2) claimed the league's regular-season crown and No. 1 seed in the NJAC Tournament for the second consecutive season and sixth time in the last 10 years.
MSU, the defending league titleholder, will host one of the semifinal contests on Wednesday, November 4 at 7:00 pm against an opponent yet to be determined.
Playing in a steady rainfall throughout, Montclair and Rutgers-Newark found themselves in a scoreless contest through the first 18 minutes when the Red Hawks delivered a 1-2 punch with two goals in a 48 second span. Bziukiewicz had the first at 18:16 off an assist by Simek before
KYLE GOODWIN knocked in a pass from Bziukiewicz at 19:04 for a 2-0 MSU advantage.
MATT HENDRICKSON extended the lead to three with his ninth tally of the season as Montclair, which outshot, Rutgers-Newark 9-8 in the first half, led 3-0 at halftime.
The Red Hawks used another double shot to make the game 5-0 in the second half. Bziukiewicz scored his 10
th of the year off a feed from
MIKE TARANTO at 57:12 and then set up Olla 77 seconds later. It was Olla's 10
th goal of the season.
Simek capped the scoring at 71:31 knocking in his fifth of the season.
Freshman goalkeeper
MIKE SAALFRANK stopped three shots for his fourth shutout of the season. Matt Broomall made six saves for Rutgers-Newark (13-6-1, 4-4-1 NJAC).
