Montclair, NJ - Junior forward
BRANDON CHANNER posted his fifth double-double of the season with 26 points and 12 rebounds as Montclair State snapped a four-game losing streak with a 71-58 victory over Farmingdale State at the Panzer Athletic Center on Wednesday afternoon.

SHAUN RUSSELL and
ERICK LOFTEN-HARRIS had 14 and 11 points respectively as the Red Hawks used a hot-shooting hand early to move past the .500 mark at 5-4. MSU, returning from an 18-day layoff, posted its first win since November 29 as they also improved to 12-3 against the Rams in the first meeting between the teams since 2008.
Matthew Graham had 13 points, five rebounds and four steals for Farmingdale State, which had its three-game winning streak halted with the loss. The Rams are now 3-7.
The Red Hawks, who never trailed in the game, came out firing making nine of their first 12 attempts from the field including six three-pointers. Channer and
JAHVAN ROSBIA hit back-to-back three's to start the game and Rosbia's second three points with 15:06 left put MSU in front 16-3. Russell connected from behind the arc and after a triple by
AARON WILLIAMS, hit again giving Montclair State a 25-4 lead with 11:11 left in the first half.
MSU would maintain that large advantage throughout the rest of the half. The Rams cut the deficit to 36-24 with 98 seconds to play however Loften-Harris made three attempts the foul line as Montclair took a 39-24 lead in to the break. MSU shot 53 percent (14-of-26) from the field in the first 20 minutes, including 8-of-12 from three-points range. Channer and Russell had 13 and 10 points respectively.
The hot shooting would not continue for Montclair State in the second half and Farmingdale took advantage of that chipping away at the lead. Brandon Herriot drilled a three-pointer from the left corer pulling the Rams to within 48-43 with 8:03 left. But Channer immediately answered with a three at the other end and Loften-Harris hit two foul shots restoring the lead to 55-43 with 6:37 left.
Liam Monaghan connected on a three getting Farmingdale State within 55-46 but again a three from Channer on the ensuing possession boosted the lead back to double-digits at 58-46. The Rams would get no closer than 10 points the rest of the way.
Loften-Harris added five rebounds and five assists for MSU which got seven points off the bench from senior
AARON WILLIAMS.
JORDAN ROBERSON grabbed six rebounds for MSU which held a 42-39 edge on the boards.
Montclair State returns to action this weekend, heading to Roanoke, Virginia. MSU will face McDaniel College in the Cregger Classic on Saturday, Jannuary 2 at Noon. The consolation/championship games are set for Sunday, January 3.
