Men's Basketball Ends Season with 77-56 Loss at No. 23 Richard Stockton

Green Scores 20 Final Game of 2014-15 Campaign

Galloway Township, NJ - The Montclair State men's basketball team closed out its 2014-15 campaign with a 77-56 loss at No. 23 Richard Stockton on Wednesday evening.

Freshman LAVRONE GREEN (Teaneck, NJ / Teaneck) finished with 20 points for the Red Hawks, who ended the season at 7-18 overall, 3-15 in the NJAC.

The victory clinched the No. 1 seed for the Ospreys in the upcoming NJAC tournament. Stockton, which shot 49.2 percent from the field for the game (30-61), also hit the 20-win mark for the fourth consecutive year and seventh in their last eight seasons.
 
The Ospreys started slowly falling behind 23-18 before they kicked it into high gear. They finished the half on a 22-4 run to take a 40-27 lead the the break and never looked back. Marcus Harmon (Whitesboro/Middle Twp.) and Josh Blamon (Cinnaminson/Cinnaminson) accounted for eight and seven points respectively during the run. Blamon led all players with 13 first-half points and Stockton shot 53.3 percent from the floor including 7-15 (46.7%) from three-point range.
 
Stockton methodically pulled away in the second half. The Ospreys scored the first six points of the period on a three-pointer by Armin Cane (Pleasantville/Pleasantville) and a three-point play by Blamon to make it 46-27. From there, Stockton never let the Red Hawks get closer than 12 points before setting the final score at 77-56. Twelve Ospreys scored points in the contest.
 
Blamon led four Ospreys in double figures with 20 points, the third consecutive game he's hit that mark. Cane added 15 markers Anthony Woodward (Atlantic City/Atlantic City) and Harmon tallied 12 and 11 points respectively. Harmon and Woodard also swatted away three Red Hawk shots each.
 
Carlton Whitehead (Ewing/Life Center) came off the bench and tied for team honors in rebounds with Cane as they pulled down six boards apiece. Whitehead dished a game-high five assists, one off his career high.
 
For Montclair State, Erick Lofton-Harris (Union, NJ / Union) added 12 points while DEVYN RANSOM (Jersey City, NJ / Marist) pulled down a game-high nine rebounds for the Red Hawks.
