Hat Tricks for Mangan, Jevic, Cunningham Lead No. 16 Men's Lacrosse Past Muhlenberg, 14-6

Mantineo Dominant on Faceoffs as Red Hawks Get Back on Track

Allentown, PABRETT MANGAN, MICHAEL JEVIC and CONNOR CUNNINGHAM each scored a pair of goals during an 11-goal span bridging the second and third quarter as 16th-ranked Montclair State ran away from Muhlenberg in a 14-6 victory at Scott Wood Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

Mangan, Jevic and Cunningham each finished with three goals as the Red Hawks (4-1) got back on the winning track following their first loss of the season at Ursinus College last week.

Mangan, who also collected three assists, set up both goals in the first period as MSU led 2-0 after the first quarter. ALEX HAHN finished off a feed from Mangan with 11:53 to play and Cunningham recorded his first with 50 seconds remaining giving Montclair State the two-goal advantage.

Muhlenberg scored a goal to open the second period cutting the lead to a goal. Jevic responded as he found the back of the net with 11:14 left. The Mules again cut the deficit to 3-2 as Jon Thomas scored however the Red Hawks ripped off the next 11 goals.

Cunningham began the run with 9:08 remaining and added another 58 seconds later before Mangan scored with 6:46 to play making the score 6-2. SHAUN STERNER tallied less than a minute later and goals by Hahn and CONNOR RICH boosted the MSU lead to 9-2 at halftime.

Jevic continued the run in the second half scoring with 8:43 left and Mangan man-up goal extended the lead to 11-2. Jevic and Mangan scored 44-seconds apart before SHANE RAYMOND capped the run with an unassisted tally with 1:28 remaining in the third.

Muhlenberg recorded all four goals in the fourth for the final margin.

Faceoff specialist Blaise Mantineo dominated in the "X" winning 12-of-16 as MSU won 16 of the 24 faceoffs contested. Mantineo also had five ground balls as did defenseman ROBERT SNOW and RYAN YOUNG, the latter also causing three turnovers. MICHAEL SCHRECK led the Red Hawks with six ground balls.

Goalkeeper LUCAS JONES stopped seven shots in the first 45 minutes before giving way to BOBBY GRAZIANO, who made four saves in the final 15 minutes.

Montclair State returns to action on Saturday, March 21 with a 1:00 pm contest against 19th-ranked Denison University in Philadelphia, PA at Malvern Prep High School.
