MICHAEL JEVIC and junior midfielder
ZACH SCHRECK combined for six goals as Montclair State opened defense of its Skyline Conference title with a 9-7 win over Stockton University on Wednesday evening.

CONNOR CUNNINGHAM and
MICHAEL SCHRECK had a goal and assist apiece as the Red Hawks (6-3, 1-0 Skyline) jumped out to a five-goal lead in the third quarter before holding off the Ospreys who fell to 7-3 overall (1-1 Skyline).
MSU outshot Stockton 12-2 in the first period and accounted for all of the scoring.
ZACH SCHRECK scored 1:24 into the contest unassists and
SHANE RAYMOND fed
MICHAEL SCHRECK for a man-up goal with 8:17 left before Jevic collected the first of his four goals with 4:21 to go in the opening period as MSU led 3-0 after 15 minutes.
Jevic would register the lone goal in the second and his finish off a pass from
STEVE DANYLUK with 12:22 left in the third put the Red Hawks up 5-0. Stockton scored the next two goals, including a man-up tally with 8:03 making the score 5-2.
ZACH SCHRECK answered with a man-up goal two minutes later but the Ospreys scored the last three goals cutting the Montclair State lead to 6-5 at the end of three periods.
Cunningham gave Montclair some breathing room with a goal 38 seconds into the fourth and Jevic's third goal with 11:05 left put the Red Hawks in front 8-5. Vincent Mansia answered for Stockton with 6:25 to go and Mike Caposella's power-play goal with 4:56 remaining got the Ospreys to 8-7.
Stockton would win the ensuing faceoff and got a man-advantage opportunity nine seconds. But the Ospreys would only get one shot which went wide and then turned the ball over with 4:18 to play. Montclair State would take it to the other end with
MICHAEL SCHRECK finding Mangan for an all-important insurance goal with 3:50 left.
Goalkeeper
LUCAS JONES stopped 11 shots for Montclair State, which outshot the Ospreys 43-30 in the game.
MICHAEL SCHRECK caused three turnovers while
LEN BELLEZZA forcing a pair. Bellezza and
ROBERT SNOW combined for 10 ground balls while Blasé Mantineo had four in addition to nine faceoff wins.
Montclair State returns to action on Saturday, April 4 hosting Albright College in a 1:00 pm start at Sprague Field.
