No. 24 Men's Soccer Rolls Past Covenant, 6-1

Six Different Goal Scorers for Montclair in First Game of Tennssee Trip

Maryville, TN – Senior midfielders DAMIAN BZIUKIEWICZ and LUCAS TERCI scored 21 seconds part in the first half as No. 24 Montclair State pulled away for a 6-1 victory over Covenant College (GA) at Maryville College on Friday afternoon.

MIKE OLLA, KAZARI TROUGHT, MATT HENDRICKSON and AARON ROSE each had a goal for the Red Hawks, who improved to 2-0 with a victory in the first of two games on their Tennessee trip.

Issac Johnson collected the lone goal for Covenant (1-1).

Olla put MSU on the board at the 2:42 mark of the contest netting his first of the season. Covenant would tie the game in the 22nd minute sparking a flurry of scoring as the ball found the back of the net three times in a span of 42 seconds.

Johnson's goal tied the game at the 21:31 mark however that was answered 21 seconds later as Baziukiewicz headed in a pass from KYLE GOODWIN putting MSU back on top. Terci extended the lead to 3-1 after finishing off a feed from younger brother RAFAEL TERCI.

Montclair State would add three goals in the second half as it outshot Covenant 12-4 over the final 45 minutes. Trought scored at 69:53 with freshman MATT HENDRICKSON recording his first career goal with 15:46 left. Rose capped the scoring with just under five minutes remaining with ALAIN BROWN picking up the assist.

Freshman goalkeeper MIKE SAALFRANK stopped a pair of shots for the MSU, which outshot Covenant 20-6 in the contest.

The Red Hawks will have the day off before returning to action on Sunday, September 6 against Maryville College. MSU will then fly back home to face Farmingdale State on Monday, September 7 at 7:00 pm.
