Montclair, NJ – Freshman
CHARLES COBBERTT won a pair of individual events while
GREG BAUWENS won both sections of the one-meter diving competition helping Montclair State knock off Vassar, 128-102 at the Pazner Athletic Center Pool on Wednesday evening.
JAMES SINGEWALD and
HUNTER ROMANOWSKI each added event victories as the Red Hawks upped their record to 7-3 on the year.
Singewald and Romanowski teamed with
DAN KNEPPLE and
STEVEN ROTH for a win in the 400 medley relay as the group swam 3:42.18 Cobbertt collected the first of his two wins in the 50 freestyle as he clocked in a 22.53 seconds with
BRENDAN TURNER finishing second at 23.30 seconds.
Bauwens chalked up the first of his two win with a score of 130.45 in the first section of diving. He would complete his day with a score of 182.20 in the second section.
Romanowski led a 1-2-3 finish by MSU in the 100 freestyle. Romanowski captured the event with a time of 49.59 seconds.
FRANCIS PINO followed at 52.07 with
KEVIN HENNINGSEN taking third at 52.09 seconds. Singewald won the 200 backstroke in a time of 2:03.00 with Cobbertt taking the top spot in the 500 freestyle at 5:01.93. Knepple was second in the event at 5:08.18.
The Red Hawks return to action on Saturday, January 30 with their final home meet of the season. MSU hosts local rival William Paterson at 1:00 pm.
