Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State volleyball team stretched its winning streak to 10 on Saturday after the Red Hawks posted straight-set wins over Lehman College and Merchant Marine Academy at the Panzer Athletic Center.
The Red Hawks continued the best start in program history raising its record to 15-2 on the year while its winning streak is now the second-longest since the inception of the program in 1989.
Freshman
SCHYLER WHITE collected eight kills as Montclair downed Lehman (4-9), 25-10, 25-18, 25-12). White led a solid and balanced hitting attack which posted a .355 efficiency, including .538 in the last set as MSU made just one error in 26 attempts. White hit .533 committing and did not commit an error in 15 attempts. She also contributed five digs.
APRIL DIANGELO added seven kills along with 10 assists and three digs with
KIMBERLY MATLOCK added 22 assists and six digs.
COURTNEY MATLOCK and freshman
JILLIAN WILSON had five kills each with
MELISSA TERPSTRA getting four along with four aces and four digs.
The Red Hawks solid hitting continued into the match with Merchant Marine (8-5) as it recorded a .344 mark.
HAYLEY MERRILL had eight of her 16 kills in the first set, including the final one in a 25-15 Set 1 victory. Montclair State would take the final two sets 25-19 and 25-18.
Merrill finished off her double-double performance with 11 digs and had a pair of blocks.
COURTNEY MATLOCK hit double figures with 10 kills with
MADISON MAUTE added seven along with four blocks.
ASHLEY GRIFFITH put up 34 assists with seven digs while
DANIELLE OLCESE and
CAITLIN AARTS went for 14 and 12 digs respectively.
NATALIA MAJKUT recorded three blocks as Montclair had seven in the match.
Montclair State returns to action on Tuesday, October 4 hosting Rowan University at 7:00 pm inside the Panzer Athletic Center.
